A sign (in a different sense)

So here I am driving to school. It's early in the morning and now that the sun is up, it's such a pleasant drive in everyday, enjoying the shadows and the nice pink and orange sky. I had thought that I had missed all of the beautiful colors in the sky. Suddenly, I came up over a hill and there on the left was a wide open sky with a bit of color still lingering in the early morning. I thought, I should stop, but thought, oh those colors aren't that great and it's cold out and blah blah blah. Luckily for me, I saw a "sign" that I should stop....the tiniest corner of the sun rising over the trees!

When I envisioned the assignment, I was thinking of road signs, street signs, funny signs, even advertisments. I guess I wasn't thinking of this being a sign, but there it was. I had just enough battery left to capture the glorious sign of a new day here on the earth.

PLUS: Trish's field trip confirmed my sunrise as a "sign" because it truly represents:

The sunrise is beautiful. I love it. So many typical sunrise shots are "perfect"..yours shows the sunrise in the Northeast, in a farmer's field, with the weeds and snow encrusted ground. I don't know if I made sense here but good job! Also good sign pic..I like the angle.

beautiful sunrise.
you captured it at just the right moment.
your sign is our motto i think.
we are always looking for the beauty in our everydays(so we can take a picture of it and stay in the competition.)

The colors in the sunrise truly are common but uncommon..You so often bring me back to that snowy field and horizon vision..Jamie's Winter

Nice images. And good thoughts to go along with them.
The second image is awesome because of the angle. So you captured a common item in an uncommon way!

These are really great, Jayme! I'm glad you made yourself stop and take the sunrise image...it is lovely. I was amazed at the image you got using your cell phone...and loved the angle you chose, too. (Reminds me of the old saying...the best camera is the one you have in your hand!). Also, I've been to that gallery many times, but had never noticed those shadows you found. You have a great eye for photography! Really enjoyed our little field trip! :-)
