Good Luck Jonathan

Today, at a few minutes before 3pm, Jonathan was picked up from home by a Marine Corp Sargeant. Tomorrow night he will begin a chapter in his life as a Marine Corp Recruit at Parris Island in S.C. We shared a last meal together as a family, chinese food! Then we waited for the Sargeant to come to the house. All he could bring was the clothes on his back, a Marine Bible, and a few official documents. Luckily, Mom and I were able to hold in our emotions. We didn't cry at all. Here are the pictures mom and I took. Jonny's face as he hugs mom is priceless to me. I can tell from his expression that he will miss her the most.

Pulling away from us to a new life:

I have a huge lump in my throat. :-(
What an emotional day for your family! Yours and your mom's photos are priceless!!! You ought to get them all printed and put into one frame. It's a universal story that requires no words. Will Jonathan be able to call home? Please keep us posted with news from your Marine! I think I'll go have a good cry now.
:-)

Like Trish, I too am choked up. The emotion from the pictures and your words are deep. All the best to him. New adventures and excitement await him.

Well, I am dumbstruck. You didn't cry, either one of you? A miracle, indeed.

God be with Jonathan.

Well, the "lump in the throat" made it all the way to Hawaii. Make sure you print these images and put them in an album. They're great.

I know that you and your family will be comforted by God's grace while Jon is away. And I know that there will be a special blessing for Jon for his willingness to serve his country so admirably.
