Sunny afternoon in a peaceful spot

Because I could not stop for Death,
He kindly stopped for me;
the carriage held but just ourselves
and Immortality

~Emily Dickinson~

A sunny afternoon visit to a cemetary yields some fascinating stones:

Creepy moments: the moseleum was locked but just inside the door were several caskets awaiting burial. Too strange to pass up a photo, but don't think I'm a total weirdo.
Also very creepy was the discovery of an old tomb at the back top of the cemetary. The door was doubly sealed with cement. I could tell because of the holes in the cement where someone had tried to get in. Two layers of thick cement to keep a tomb closed...interesting....

He lives!!!

Happy Resurrection Day! Today is a day where I thank God for his son Jesus Christ who has conquered death and sin. It's also a day to be with family and friends in celebration and joy. Here are just a few shots from today's busy day, starting with church and ending with my grandmother rolling the dice during a new and fun game!

1st annual Easter Egg Hunt at Glen

This was my first "gig" as a photographer:) I was amazed at how many people showed up, even a former student who looked embarrassed but assured me he was really there to support a younger brother:) With everyone waiting for the big event to begin, there was little to do but chew on one's collecting bucket:

Excitement was evident everywhere I turned...this little guy is one of my secret favorites because of his beautiful blue eyes and huge smile.I'm a HUGE FAN!:

Finally, the whistle blows and the race begins!:

I learned that team work was essential to a good collection:

Here are just a few more of my favorites, but really, I got so many good ones, it is hard to choose!

A near life experience

A hike today in the still snowy woods. One of my favorite waterfalls. Mist from the falls becoming ice as it churns upward towards the sky.
Water raging all around me.

For many moments, I longed to become a part of it,
the soft yet powerful pull of the water.

I sat as closely as I could, trying to draw strength from its mighty waves and sprays. For a moment there, I wanted nothing more than to melt seamlessly into the beautiful white waves. I could smell both the new growth of the woods and silent decay of leaves and ferns.

I long to become a part of it all.

Thursday's assignment: The hand

I love this assignment because I've enjoyed taking pictures of hands in the past. This one is a trick my grandfather taught me. He does it a lot better; my fingers don't line up right. Guess I am crooked! Life sort of feels that way right now anyhow, so here is the post:
