Time

"And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but its sinking, And racing around to come up behind you again" ~Pink Floyd

No time for photographs today, I'm racing the sun!

Lens baby and a mystery tree

Steve graciously let me borrow his lens baby to experiment. I got this shot of the window at church, but I also tried some photos of mixed spring flowers and all I got was a white screen...anybody know why that happened?

Also, this is a mystery tree I saw growing on one of my hikes last week. There were so many of them and I knew that most of them wouldn't survive in one area, so I grabbed one and planted it in a pot to see if it would grow. The leaf buds have opened:)

Water>>>>>>falls part two

I know, my friend
the swirling pools that are inside you
and how the scorching drops of water cling to your heart
leave you gasping for air as you break the surface.

I know, my friend
the jagged stones that pull you down
and how your fingers slip against the rough edges
leave you battered and bruised on the desolate shore.

I know, my friend
the sound of the wind that calls you
and how you strain to feel the sun upon your face
the sea of the forest closing in around you.

I know, my friend
I know

The hands of perseverance

To cap off the great and amazing show, our first (by the way, you can visit it at the Frothingham Library!) we held the monthly drawing for the coveted photographer's trophy of the MVP-ers. The tension is somewhat akin to a Roman gladiator battle to the death! The winner...someone who has persevered and been patiently waiting the chance to grasp the cup of champions...
STEVE! Congratulations on your win and Trish, you also are a winner in my book. Your work on our show was tremendous and hasn't gone overlooked.

Water >>>> falls

In a dream

A sky of stars is spread out above me
The soft scent of the grass rises up
Winds its way gently between my fingers
And the heavy blanket of the night folds
Itself obediently between my shoulder blades.
I am cool and cloudless against the darkness
With a silent roar, I stretch out against
The rocks of my existence
Heart beating fiercely against my moist skin
A passionate cry flooding my soul
As I reach for you

And fall

(Don't have too much time to devote tonight. This is my take on the waterfalls assignment!)

Foiled by a fence!

My great destiny as a sports photographer was foiled by the dreaded fence around the ball field! I went to see some of my students playing softball hoping for those great sliding shots, leaps of grandeur and amazing swings...but that darn fence was like prison style, blocking everything I was hoping for. Had to settle for these shots. I actually like the fence after a while. It definitely gives a different perspective of the game.

P/S This is how I'm feeling about my research project with
the kids right now:

Trying to get the chair the way I like it!

I had several comments on the chair with the red door from Sunday. I however, was unhappy with the piece because it was crooked. So this evening, I went to try to get it right. It was really tough. Either I am extremely bad at lining up a photo or the porch isn't level or something! I can't seem to get this thing straight:) I tried really hard to get the chair and door straight in the frame but finally had to settle with this shot:

However, I didn't stop there. I kept looking for a better angle or more interesting shot and finally, I've got it to where I'm nearly NEARLY satisfied in this picture.
Which do you like best? I think we are our own worst critics sometimes!
